Storms & Spaceship Earth

Did you know October 9th is Curious Events Day? According to National Today, “it’s the day to wonder about everything we've ever wondered about.” If you’ve lived in Florida for a while (51 years here!) you may not think of hurricanes as curious events, but this Milton is a doozy, and we’re all scratching our heads on whyyyyyy is this coming on the heels of Helene.

Here’s a interesting fact for you - a local official estimated the storm debris from Hurricane Milton could equal the weight of 33 Spaceship Earths—yes, that’s the iconic “golf ball” at Epcot. That’s a monumental cleanup!

The origin of Curious Events Day is in fact a curious mystery itself. Nevertheless, it’s a “holiday” now, and the perfect day to be curiously baffled about lots of things. Stay safe out there, my Florida friends!

I’ll be back in the gallery on Saturday, October 19th for our Halloween Spooktacular event from 6-9pm. Hope to see you there!
